Space Shuttle Endeavor and other Things to do in Orlando

The space shuttle Endeavour is seen at launch ...

When we have been near Cape Canaveral, FL, we love to catch any glimpse possible of what is going on at the Kennedy Space Center. We have not been fortunate enough to view a launch in person, but have watched many ones through the years that bring back memories because of what we were doing at the time of the launch. Perhaps this is true for you also. This will be an historic launch for so many reasons, and it is a story filled with heroes. It is good to have modern-day heroes as examples before us, to encourage and remind us of what is possible. In perhaps the greatest comeback story of this year, I will be watching the launch not only because of my love of all things related to NASA and space launches. Gabby (Gabrielle) Giffords, US Congresswoman to Arizona, is truly an American hero who will be there watching her husband Mark Kelly commands the launch.  Allow me to recount and make that two heroes.  The official site provides the most up-to-date information for those able to attend. If this includes yourself, you will be among the anticipated 500,000 in attendance.

If you have family, watch it with them and remind them – not of the tragedy, but of the triumph. The triumph of the space mission and the personal mission being accomplished. If you have a personal story of recovery that is similar, share yours. Because we all need a few more heroes. I have also listed a site for information on visiting Cape Canaveral. It lists information both for this mission as well as information for touring throughout the year. This is definitely a must-see for your visit to Florida.

Update: The Space Shuttle Endeavor is delayed for now, until Monday, May 2, 2:33 p.m. EDT.  We will update this page when more information becomes available.

Royal Wedding Watch Parties

We posted an article earlier about some peoples’ recommendations on cocktails to serve for the Royal Wedding this Friday, April 29th. In that article, I included a link that had tips for hosting your own Royal Wedding Watch Party  (included in the link above). Little did I know, mired in family activities and computer writing, that the nation had this planned for months before me. Of course, you knew that. Since we write articles about events going on across the country each week, it was a natural to write about locations where they are having a Royal Wedding Watch Party. Some of the links I have posted below are for specific restaurants. Others are for cities, and will list several options for you. We will keep looking throughout the week for more for you, so check back if your city isn’t listed. If you know of one in your city, please contact us so we can share it with others!

If you aren’t available to watch the wedding on Friday, you can actually watch it early. : )

Here is a clip from the rehearsal for the ceremony.

A Royal Wedding this week?

Okay, who is getting up to watch the wedding. The Wedding. The wedding predicted so many times, has succumbed to break-ups and make-ups, and every tale possible for years in the making. Yes, there is an official website. No, I didn’t know this before I began this article. (It includes a countdown clock down to the second for the die-hard royals fan.) But I probably will get up to watch the wedding. That means so will you. Why? I have no intention of being up so early all by myself! So let’s make this a planned event, and have a cocktail ready in advance to toast to the Royal Couple!!

Naturally there are nearly as many reports of the official cocktail for the wedding. As an early toast to the couple, we would like to offer a few suggestions on what others are saying about a recommended cocktail for the wedding. Yes, That Wedding. There are many more available. You just might see one from us. This is a nice start if you want to have a toast to the Royal couple, or if you are hosting a party and were looking for the Royal Wedding Punch. We even included a link at the end with tips for hosting a Royal Wedding Watch Party. Raise your glass to the bride and groom in a toast with us on Friday!
